Re: Proposed Housing development in Burstead.

For six weeks between November and December 2007, the Council invited landowners and developers to put forward potential development sites in the District.

At present, the Council are at a very early stage in the Local Development Framework (LDF) process.

The Council’s ‘Call for Sales’ invitation is intended to inform the development options for both the Core Strategy and the Site Allocation Development Plan Documents. The council are due to issue a response to all sites submitted in March 2008.

“The Preferred Options of the Core Strategy” will be the first consultation document to which anyone is able to submit formal representations. However, the Core Strategy is a strategic document dealing with broad amounts and locations of development and therefore will not go into site specific detail. Nonetheless, it sets the framework within which all subsequent documents will have to comply. The Preferred Options Consultation Paper is expected after the May local elections this year.

The Site Allocations Development Plan Document will be a site specific document, which is likely to contain details of this and formally endorse it as an allocation. However, work is not due to start on this until October 2008, following the response to sites and the Preferred Options Consultation Paper. No date is yet available for consideration by Committee or public consultation.
