  1. Has anyone got a copy of the plans?

    Has anyone seen them?

    Do plans exist yet?

If there are no plans yet then I'm reluctant to send any type of letter of opposition to the council unless I actually know what I am opposing. Greenbelt land should definitley be protected but positive development on a reasonable section of the land, such as a hospice for teenagers (that I read as one potential proposal online somewhere) could be great and would have my full support!

Until I see actual plans, I think it would be very wrong to jump to the conclusion that the final plan is for evil greedy property developers to just concrete over the golf clubs land.

I am concerned about what is going to happen to the land as I use the woodland footpaths regularly and have enjoyed doing so for years. Right now though, it just seems like we're really jumping to conclusions - shouting NO before a question has been asked or an official proposal given.

If I have missed the official plans then I would be very grateful if someone could direct me to them online by replying under this message with an official website link - so we can all look at the plans ourselves before we oppose them.

  2. Can you put a map of the proposals on the site, so we can see the exact area in question.

    Thanks.

Once again a greedy developer seeks to ride roughshod over the community. By today's standards 500 houses would typically add 1000 vehicles to the traffic flowing through and around the town. The High Street is almost at gridlock already so this would be like trying to get a quart into a pint pot (that is already brim full).

Also, the destruction of the fields and woodland would have a disastrous effect on wildlife and remove yet another peaceful area for people to enjoy.

Is this the first step to removing all green areas between Billericay and Basildon?

I missed your High Street protest but my letters are in the post.

  4. Well done on setting up this site and helping to reflect the community's concern at the proposals from the Golf Club. I am the Cabinet Member for Regeneration at Basildon Council as well as being a Billericay Councillor, and I am on record as saying that the Golf Club's proposals are premature as far as the current Local Development Framework process is concerned and, more importantly, do not reflect any policy of the Council. In fact, I cannot understand what the Golf Course is trying to achieve by causing so much concern with their ill-thought out proposals. I know that my view is shared by all of the Burstead Ward Councillors and I am confident that their views and the views of the community will prevail.

  5. You have my support. I cannot believe that a scheme like this can begin to be considered given the population and lack of infrastructure in Billeircay.

500 new homes! How would the local schools cope, and the doctors, buses, trains. What about the increased traffic? Tye Common road is already a rat run.

What about the eco systems for the local wild life?

Sign and Save our green belt!

  6. I will certainly be supporting the objections to this unwanted and unrealistic development proposal.

    regards

    Colin Eastman
