About BBRG
What is the backround to the formation of the Billericay & Burstead Residents Group.
It is an 'Action' group recently formed to 'take-on' the proposed plan for 500 houses to be built on GREEN BELT LAND in the Burstead area of Billericay.
Three local residents formed an action group in January 2008 and named it the "Billericay & Burstead Residents Group" (BBRG) and over the last few weeks, we have increased our members to six.
Although Mick Kennedy and I, Allen Last front this action group, I cannot emphasise the importance of the other members input who wish to remain anonymous at the time.
Our objectives are to make the residents of Billericay and Little Burstead aware of the effects of Basildon Council's intention to carry out central governments wishes to build more houses on GREEN BELT LAND if brown field sites are not available.
Our very first 'petition signing' was held in Billericay High Street on Saturday 23rd February, the first we hope of many. We obtained over 1,300 signatures from the residents of Billericay and the general consensus of opinion was that local people really do not want this to happen. The local press were present and took photographs, so look for their reports in the next week or so.
We have already been given positive coverage in two recent editions of the Billericay and Wickford Gazette and the Echo and it is very good to have their support. We will keep you informed of progress through this website.
